Net Atlantic Gives Back: 2015 Scholarship Winners!

Salem, MA - June 24, 2015 - Net Atlantic congratulates Ashley Augulewicz (pictured left) and Madeline Thomas (pictured center), both of Beverly High School, on winning the Net Atlantic 2015 Scholarship awards for Science and Technology Achievement, as well as Leadership Achievement, respectively.

For the seventh straight year, as part of its dedication to giving back to the local community, Net Atlantic held its annual college scholarship contest for two commendable students attending public or private high schools in Salem, Peabody, Lynn, Lynnfield, Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, and Swampscott. This year each applicant was awarded $2,000.

Eligible candidates were required to graduate from high school in 2015, maintain a GPA above 3.0, and plan to pursue a four-year college degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, computer science, or information technology. To qualify, they were asked to submit an application, including an essay in which they could share their accomplishments, passions, and intelligence.

The scholarship winners were honored at a brunch presentation on June 14, 2015 at Net Atlantic's headquarters. "Overall, I just want to say that if these two recipients are representative of the class of 2015, and those entering college today, that the future is bright indeed." said Net Atlantic Founder & CEO, Andrew Lutts (pictured right). "We know these remarkable young women will achieve all they set out to do, and more." Barbara DiMambro, scholarship committee member, went on to say "Both of these young ladies exemplify what is right with the youth of our country. They are a credit to their families and their community."

Science and Technology Achievement Award Winner
Ashley Augulewicz, Beverly High School, Beverly MA

Ashley graduated Beverly High School with a 4.02 GPA. She is a member of both the National Honor Society for academic accomplishments as well as the National Art Honor Society. While at BHS she volunteered in their Tech Center where she provided installs, updates and troubleshooting for their new 1-to-1 Mac Laptop program, and was also active in DECA.

Athletically, she was elected captain of the BHS basketball team & proved to be a great leader & mentor to teammates on and off the court. She participated in Track & Field and excelled in distance running and javelin.

Out of the school Ashley was equally busy. In addition to volunteering at the Beverly City Clerk's office, she also participated in youth ministry, and volunteered at youth basketball camps.

This fall Ashley will be attending Merrimack College where she will major in business and computer science.

Academic and Leadership Achievement Award Winner
Madeline Thomas, Beverly High School, Beverly MA

Madeline's outstanding high school career boasts a GPA of 4.3, a ranking of 24 out of 321, an ACT score of 29 and an SAT score of 1880. She was on the honor roll consistently - every quarter throughout her high school career. Volunteer service has been a constant well beyond Madeline's four years in high school which indicate that she truly believes in these causes rather than taking them up because "they'll look good on her college applications." At the same time, she has been active in all areas of extracurricular activity from athletics, music, theater and art, to civic and environmental groups. As student director and stage manager of the spring musical, her ability to rein in and keep dozens of teenagers on task was a testament to her leadership skills.

In the fall Madeline will be attending Boston University, as part of their Hospitality Management program.
